This 70 minute video allows children to learn by watching other children as they play games and model the use of pro-active game playing skills as they play. The video re-creates, in a sense, one old-fashioned way that game play was stimulated and passed along on playgrounds. Using this video alongside the companion PEP Games Handbook is a fun and effective way to learn how to play the PEP games yourself, and to teach games and pro-social skills to students.
The video features:
- Game demonstrations by real students in action on a real school playground.
- Original artwork to accompany each game.
- Original music score and narration to accompany the natural sounds of each game.
- A six minute introduction to games and the 'Ground Rules of Fair Play'.
- Demonstrations of the 30 of the most popular playground games described in the PEP Games Handbook. The 30 games are divided into 5 parts according to space requirements (each game is 2-3 minutes long). Each segment can shown to a class in one sitting before they vote on the 2-3 games to try out. The video can also be shown in its entirety, of course..
- A time index (on the back of the video cover) so that owners can find the game(s) they want to watch or show to others.
Additional note:
A teacher/parent guide is also available for those who want to use the video more pro-actively to stimulate conversations or to create expanded or integrated lessons.
